"The bowl I have drawn and painted in this is from the Qing Dynasty, Kangi period (1661 - 1722). It is called a prunus bowl and is decorated with underglaze in blue and a copper-red slip decoration. It realized $2,195 USD at an auction Sotheby’s in March this year 2024.
The bowl is visited by a cheeky and inquisitive Crimson Rosella. This beautifully coloured bird visits our Australian country garden all year round and loves the seed bowl and sitting high in the tress calling to each other in a variety of calls. They also like to see themselves as gardeners. Quite unwelcome at times! They love to nip at new Spring rose growth and prune our Chinese Elm trees, leaving a carpet of green beneath each tree. But how can you not love them?"
