"Spring is an important time for barn owls. This is when the breeding cycle starts, the male and female establish a nesting space and spend time together preening and bonding. Males also bring females gifts from successful hunts, as has happened in this painting.
I was determined to show the beauty of this springtime ritual along with the fierce will to survive as well as the vulnerability and beauty of these two barn owls.
