"This absolutely lovely bowl features hibiscus, bamboo leaves and prunus flowers - with magnolia blooms on the other side of the bowl. It is from the Daoguang period of 1821 - 1850. It is visited by one of my favorite visitors, Rufus Whistler. This delightful bird comes to our garden from early Summer to late Spring. I am always happy to hear their call which can last for several minutes and is very loud. Their song gets louder and more complicated as the season progresses. You would think with such bright breast plumage that these would be easy to spot. But they seem to blend into whatever tree they are resting in and it is only their voice which gives them away."
