"This beautiful jar is decorated in iron red with gilding. It is a ‘Lotus’ Jar from the Dauguang period of China 1782 – 1850 and was sold through Sotheby’s Auction House. Listed as Property of a Gentleman, it sold in 2021 for $226,800HKD.
This jar is visited by one of the most beautiful birds - the Sacred Kingfisher. What a shock for my daughter and her family when this one flew into their window in country NSW. After lying motionless for a few moments, it righted itself and recovered for a while on the outside table before flying away to be with its family in a large gun tree. My son in law Charlie was able to photograph its brilliance so I thank him for the image inspiration."
