I took to clay in 1980, when I joined a pottery group close to where I live. I was taught the basics then worked with a practising potter. I then began my own practice, building a workshop and kiln. I spent a decade in learning a variety of techniques, selling work and expanding my range of methods and ideas. My learning has never ceased.
In 1990 I built a new business in designing for mould manufacture using Australian themes. This was Ozmosis Plaster Moulds – a mould manufacturing company which serviced the ceramic industry right across Australia for a decade.
In 2004 I completed a Diploma of Ceramics/Art at the Australian National University with a Hiroe Swen Award for Achievement in Ceramics.
Throughout the forty years of my career, making work I liked – creating things that made me happy was my essential motivation. I have attended many workshops, met and worked with distinguished artists in the ceramic field and taught ceramics in TAFE in Coffs Harbour. I was also on the committee of the Coastal Clay Makers Group for ten years.
I have enjoyed residencies, studied and worked in France, England, Italy, Turkey and China. My work is included in collections both in Australia and around the world.
I have had numerous solo shows, participated in many groups shows and been in the final cut of prestigious art competitions in Australia and internationally.
