KATHERINE WOOD: Panoramic Perspectives
News

"My art is not about reproducing reality; but capturing the energy that creates it"

We are thrilled to welcome Katherine Wood to the Manyung Gallery family this year. Katherine's magnificent art can best be described as 'abstract imaginings' which stride the divide between traditional landscape and contemporary abstraction.

Ruthie Tucker, curator of Amsterdam Whitney Gallery in New York, described Katherine's paintings as "deeply psychological, expressing a landscape which exists in the inner world of psyche, imagination and spirit"

Katherine makes use of earthy tones, blended brushstrokes and scraped textures in her art that ultimately reflect the natural potency and permanence of the earth. The landscapes are abstracts of her imagination that are representative of no specific time frame, place or reality, but rather a general energy or spirit of time and place - this allows one's own imagination and interpretation to come into play.

Katherine's exhibition 'Panoramic Perspectives' will be on display at Manyung Gallery Flinders from Saturday November 28th, and will also feature stunning artworks from artist Sarah Bishop.
