Just in time for Summer, we will be displaying Sally's Austral-Avian series in our galleries, and we are sure they will put a smile on your face at the very first glance!

"Within the diverse habitats of Australia are vast numbers of unique and extravagantly characteristic birds. We give birds personalities because of their human qualities; owls are wise, kookaburras are comical because they laugh like us, magpies are intelligent, crows are knowing and cunning, budgerigars are colourful and noisy and love to party.

Perhaps we humans engender human qualities in birds as we see ourselves in their personalities. Birds and humans do have parallels - We relate to them, are appreciative of them and can see ourselves as a particular species if we use our imagination. This collection is a playful exploration of this phenomenon."
