Join us at Manyung Gallery Mount Eliza for Katherine Wood's latest exhibition, 'Escapism'
Katherine tries to capture the sublime in her work (a greatness beyond all possibility of calculation). Her works are abstract imaginings of no specific place or time, capturing a general energy or spirit that allows each individual a meditative outlet to ponder life’s questions.
The ideas reflected in Katherine’s artwork - be it of connectedness, transformation, the past, death, love, nature, fear or perseverance - are not to give answers, but to provoke questions and a realisation that there are no answers. These paintings reflect on the power of each of us to persevere in the face of adversity.
“Sometimes I feel that a universal divine intelligence creates the paintings that I do. That I can step outside of myself and that I am witness and co-creator. I now ask for help with every painting I do to let the ‘magic’ happen."
