Join us at Manyung Gallery Strathmore for Mal Chambers' latest exhibition, 'Nocturnes'
Mal has spent the last two years developing an exciting style that draws on his love of dark, dramatic imagery, classical chiaroscuro paintings and striking graphic compositions. These striking, soulful pieces explore Mal’s fascination with human and animal forms, his passion for our precious environment, and the synthesis between the visual and the emotional.
Through his work, Mal asks the questions; ‘how much information do we need to see to accept something as real?’ And, ‘where does the artist’s responsibility for reinterpreting reality begin?’
Embodying the love of craft and the desire to reach for something new, Mal’s paintings are a blend of long-practised and painstaking techniques combined with flashes of colour and movement. The viewer gets the feeling that the life and energy of the subjects cannot be contained in the form in which we see them.
