Join us at Manyung Gallery Mt Eliza for a brand-new collaborative exhibition, ‘Imaginings’, featuring a stunning collection of artworks from 5 selected leading female New Zealand artists working with paper.
These artists are highly respected in New Zealand and internationally as printmakers, educators, and leaders in the contemporary field of works on paper.
Carole Shepheard, Marci Tackett, Terrie Reddish, Kathy Boyle, and Jacqueline Aust have each created a series of unique artworks based on their love of abstraction inspired by their connection to the landscape. Together they form a fascinating exhibition that combines printmaking, sculptural use of paper and other materials into new ways of imaging.
Each artwork is intricate and intentional, and you can feel their joy in sharing each other’s ways of seeing the natural world and how deeply it informs their unique approach to their chosen field of art. You can see the decades of experience and investigation into bringing new ways of looking and understanding paper as a substantial medium to work with.
‘Imaginings’ has been curated by master printmaker and award-winning Canberra artist Dianne Fogwell, one of Australia’s most respected printmakers and book practitioners. Dianne’s knowledge and broad experience internationally and within Australia sets her apart, and her curation offers the Manyung Gallery audience increased artist depth and a stronger understanding of the versatility and possibilities of paper as a medium in art.
Curators note:
‘It is not often as an artist you can curate an exhibition of other artists you admire and respect. I am pleased that Manyung Gallery have made this opportunity happen. With the exhibition “Imaginings” I have been able to bring together a group of highly respected and talented New Zealand artists who work in the field of ‘works on paper’. Each have the vision and depth of ability to shift the boundaries of the medium of paper from the wall into sculptural works and even to be worn on the body giving the viewer a true feast of new ideas and art work to experience.’
- Dianne Fogwell
