Artist Statement:
“CHASING DAYLIGHT” series illustrates a more personal chapter.
The four works describe a wee moment of grit, reflection of gratitude for what is in abundance and good old Dutch/ Yorkshire stamina.
Each painting reflects on subjects of simple known items of value and comfort- boats, still life and nature as well as life’s challenges and how these familiar elements are relied and used to keep coming back ‘home’.
“Building your garden” is metaphor for nesting, nourishment, creating sanctuary.
Planting the seeds for growth and attracting new life, people and colour
Still life objects hop off the shelf, bring simple joy and fundamental use daily.
The works chat lightly on harnessing what one DOES have and CAN do
Chasing daylight is a tactic, a daily tool literally to settle the mind...
Light and sky clears the mind, levels the angst that used to wake me before I was ready.
