"This beautiful but unusually shaped bowl is from the Guangxi Period of 1875 - 1908. It is called a Famille Rose ‘Floral’ Ogee-form Bowl and is decorated with buttercups, bamboo and berries. It is a delicate and happy piece of porcelain. It fetched $54,000 HKD in early 2024.
The bowl is visited by the ever-gregarious Gang Gang Cockatoo. We sometimes see this rare bird when we drive into Canberra where it likes to live in tall trees. You can be walking along and suddenly hear its rather unpleasant call. But looking up you are rewarded by seeing this curious bird with riot of ruby red crest feathers and cheeky look."
