That Summer Feeling

Painting mixed media on belgian linen
122 x 92 cm

“How good is it to venture into a cool rainforest on a beautiful Summers day. This last summer I took my family to the Lyrebird Walk and we cooled off in the stream that runs through this area of forest. Unfortunately we encountered a few leaches and so someone commented that it was ‘so not worth it’. Ah well, it was beautiful while it lasted! I always love the feeling that the forest and being in nature gives me, the grounding and the reconnect and a base level. The Lyrebird Walk is located on the outskirts of Mirboo North where I live and is a lovely walk with different sections depending on how much effort you want to expend and how fit you’re feeling on the day. It follows the water for a while and then climbs up and follows the edge of the forest. You’ll find beautiful lush gullies with ferns and depending on the season there’s some very interesting fungi and wildflowers in abundance.”

This artwork features in Lynne Bickhoff's upcoming exhibition, 'Stories from the Forest Floor' at Manyung Gallery Mount Eliza.
