Reece George (b. 1967, Perth, Western Australia) is a contemporary Martu painter based in Woodstock, New South Wales, Australia. A relative newcomer to professional painting, George began exhibiting in 2025 and quickly gained attention for his distinctive blend of dotting, bold negative space, and desert-inspired color palettes that merge traditional Aboriginal storytelling with a contemporary visual rhythm.
Grounded in his Martu heritage and early life at Beyondie Station in the Western Desert, George’s practice explores memory, Country, kinship, and humor. His major series: Martu Faces and Ding Dogs... depict both ancestral and everyday connections to land and community, often through animal imagery that carries layered meaning. His works are recognizable for their expressive use of pattern, balance between abstraction and figuration, and a tone that celebrates resilience and joy.
George has exhibited with Wentworth Galleries (Sydney and Brisbane, Australia) and is represented by Manyung Gallery Group (Victoria, Australia). His paintings are held in private collections nationally and internationally, including those of significant Australian collectors.
