Mary Odorcic Biography

Mary Odorcic graduated from RMIT University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Gold and Silversmithing with Honours. Since then, Mary has been creating, making and evolving her practice for over 20 years. Mary is inspired by her daily surroundings. The shapes, lines, colours, textures and forms she sees, feels and touches. Her jewellery reflects these elements through the exploration of working with a variety of materials – precious, semi precious and non-precious. She combines these different materials to work cohesively and create jewellery that will be cherished and treasured.

“I have always been fascinated by organic shapes, especially the irregular shapes of Keshi and Braque pearls. I love the free form, unique structure and how ‘perfectly imperfect’ they are. No two pearls are the same. This series of work is an exploration of everything pearls.”
