Growing up in the vast open spaces of Central Victoria has imbued my work with a ‘big landscape’ feel. I live in California Gully; extensive mining has shaped this landscape, and the inherent beauty of this scarred landscape inspires me.
I am fascinated by what is above and below the ground. Natural features and relics of bygone mining capture my attention. Flourishes of colour, plant and bird life, and the play of light - are elements that interest me. The shapes of trails, water races, and dry, eroded river beds influence my image-making.
I illuminate the landscape I navigate with bold use of colour and abstracted form.
My art practice relies heavily on my training as a printmaker and painter. I use a combination of mixed media in my artwork.
