Emily Persson

Emily Persson Biography

Emily Persson is a full-time artist living and working in Melbourne City. Persson is a multi-generational artist and spent her childhood camping off grid in regional Queensland and New South Wales. Persson’s love for the Australian Landscape and Art collide in 2017 when she became a full-time artist and moved from Brisbane to Melbourne.  Persson paints intuitively, remembering landscapes in detail and the feelings she felt whilst immersed in the vast Australian country. Along with her Partner and dog, Persson regularly embarks on cross country journeys across Victoria and NSW and later describes them visually in her South Yarra studio.

Persson paints the landscapes she explores between cities, capturing moments in every season and light. Being immersed by the land allows space for Persson to put into prospective current realities and softens the anxieties of inner city living. Persson wants to bring to light the diminishing untouched country by the creeping appearance of human interferences. Raising questions like what’s left of the untouched landscape and opening conversations about the importance of conserving the environment.

Emily has works in galleries in Sydney and New York and she held her first solo exhibition in 2019.? Emily is an Australian Art Prize Finalist and has had her work featured in some of Australia’s finest lifestyle print magazines including House & Garden, Belle, Home Beautiful and Country Style.
