Lynne Bickhoff Description

Bickhoff4

Inspiration for Lynne rises from memories of landscapes where she has formed strong connections, in particular the places where she has lived. A visit to Lynne’s studio will feel like a walk in the forest as her work depicts the beautiful natural landscape of Gippsland, predominantly the forests of the area. Lynne is a keen hiker and these treks inspire her to create as she soaks in the natural environment.

Utilising her emotional response to a particular landscape, Lynne’s feelings compel and guide her artwork in an interpretive, almost abstract response.  Each landscape has its own energy and evokes varied reactions; Lynne’s work drawn from living in remote outback Queensland is very different to her work inspired by her coastal home.  For Lynne, the painting process is almost meditative and allows her the freedom to reflect and reignite emotions from the past.

Lynne enjoys working in mixed media and rich colour palettes, combining acrylic and polymer paint with inks, shellac, conte crayon, oil sticks and charcoal to create paintings with the depth of layering found in the landscapes of life.
