Marshall Williams

Marshall Williams Biography

Mornington Peninsula based artist Marshall Williams is well known for his large-scale seascape paintings, highlighting his fascination with the still and glass-like surfaces which envelope the hulls floating quietly within their watery surrounds.

Absorbed in soft colour and glowing with luminous light, Marshall’s artworks exhibit a mood of silent calm. Drifting and stationary, often as a single hull or as a pair, with a floating expanse of clouds above. The mood and colour are as much the subject of Marshall’s paintings as the illusions of the image.

He studied Fine Art at Monash University and went on to teach fine art & photography at the Victorian College of the Arts. He has lived and worked on the Mornington Peninsula for several years as a full-time practicing artist, with solo and group exhibitions held across Australia.

His work belongs to numerous private and corporate collections.
