Creative Collaborations in the City

Melbourne Fashion Designer, Jody Kahlon and Victorian artist Belinda Rogers collaborate in 2016.

Manyung Gallery is excited to be part of a creative relationship between Melbourne bespoke clothing designer Jody Kahlon and Victorian abstract artist Belinda Rogers. In 2015, the two creatives met in Jody’s Glenhuntly studio and discussed an exciting collaborative project.

The two-month project will see the front window of the Glenhuntly studio transformed into a creative display of large abstract paintings and items of clothing created from hand-painted silks by contemporary textile artist, Mirjam Aigner. The studio will become a creative shared space as the artists work closely together, inspiring each other and discussing ideas.

A published poet, Belinda Rogers has exhibited extensively throughout fine art galleries in Melbourne and the Yarra Valley with a large interest from philosophers and art lovers, recently achieving the 1st prize in painting for the Murrundindi Art Awards, 2015. When contemporary art so often wishes to shock, Belinda’s paintings are a reminder of the quieter process of painting itself. Jody Kahlon works from her studio in Glenhuntly and has been designing clothing for over 25 years. Jody’s clothing is structured and architectural in quality, beautifully contrasting the softness of Belinda’s paintings.

Watch the window display at unfold every Monday from 18th January until March 2016 at 1066 Glenhuntly Road, Glenhuntly.
